Interesting update, thanks. One argument I’ve heard in support of hydrogen fuel was from JVC and Bamford, the owner and Tory sycophant.
They’ve converted one of their diesel engines to run on hydrogen in an attempt to maintain their business with the same global dealer/maintenance structure and have been scrounging around for government subsidies since.
The one relevant scientific point was the need for plant machinery to often be running for 16 hours a day, sometimes longer. With a liquid fuel store this was possible despite the energy inefficiency. A battery based ecosystem wouldn’t work due to size of batteries required, the additional weight making the plant inoperable.
